List of Services

Dr Horner has deep specialist experience in the following gynaecological areas:

  • Menopause
Menopausal symptoms can be distressing. Dr Horner takes an expert and balanced approach to managing them. Lifestyle changes and Hormone Replacement Therapy are both considered. If the latter becomes a preferred option, the risks, the length of treatment and the dose and mode of medication are all evaluated.
  • Premenstrual Syndrome
Premenstrual Syndrome is the name given to the collective group of distressing cyclical symptoms not caused by organic disease. Symptoms can be physical, psychological and behavioural. Precise diagnosis is critical to Dr Horner’s treatment of PMS. The absence of biological markers and the number of good versus bad days are all considered in shaping an appropriate treatment plan.
  • Premature Ovarian Failure (Not early menopause)
Premature Ovarian Failure can be a devastating diagnosis for younger women as it causes infertility. Guided by his extensive experience and research into this condition, Dr Horner will carry out baseline investigations and discuss treatment options.
  • Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder
This is defined by lack of libido or sex drive and is often a normal part of menopause. With his specialist research into this worrying condition, Dr Horner’s skill and experience can make a real difference. Expertly applied, his treatment options include oestrogen/progesterone and testosterone.
  • Recurrent miscarriage
Early pregnancy loss can be devastating – particularly when it happens more than once. Often there are underlying causes which can be treated if diagnosed. Through blood clotting tests and evaluation of the inside of the womb, Dr Horner can recommend a treatment plan that allows for successful pregnancy.

Other services offered by Dr Horner include general annual check-ups; regular cervical smears, breast examinations and reviews of contraception or hormone replacement therapy.
